SolidDrive SD1 transducer
The SolidDrive SD1 is part of the
SD series. It's a powerful audio converter, also called transducer. The compact device transforms various surfaces into a loudspeaker. The SD1 converts acoustic energy to vibrations, through magnets, and vibrates the surface with this, like a sounding board. This causes the whole surface to change into a speaker. This way, sound can be produced everywhere, without the use of clearly noticeable speakers.
Heard, not seen
In some situations, like in a beautifully designed space, it's a shame to have to place prominent loudspeakers. SolidDrive has the solution in the shape of the SD1 for application on drywall. The SD1 transducer can also be used on other surfaces, like granite and metal. The transducers can be installed easily directly on or behind walls, ceilings and on furniture, using screws. The object on which the SolidDrive SD1 is placed, changes into a loudspeaker. This way, the transducers are barely noticeable in the decor, and they can be used in virtually any interior. The transducers of the SD series are well-suited for stunning, original applications, where the use of prominent speakers isn´t desirable.
Versatile application
The SD series, aside from these transducers for drywall, also consists of the SD1g for glass applications and the SD1sm for use on wooden surfaces. The series is ideal for situations where the use of visible devices is unwanted. An SD1 can be concealed in an interactive information column, for instance, without visible sound components, like speakers, grilles and wires. This makes the SolidDrive SD1 very suitable for installation in home cinema systems and advertising purposes. In addition, the SD1 can also be used in, among others, offices, retail, hospitals, government agencies, museums and restaurants.
Amplifying and equalizing
The SD series is very energy efficient: even with less than 50 watts, the equipment can produce sound. SolidDrive offers the compact SD-250 amplifier to supply the required power. It also comes with digital EQ presets. Through notch filters, the equalizer can correct peaks in the frequency response. This way, the ideale balance between high, middle and low tones is obtained, enhancing the listening experience. When using a different amplifer than the SD-250, the passive SD1 Equalizer is needed for tone control.
